Math Instructor Receives the “Golden Apple Award”

Marissa Lytle (1)Congratulations to Marissa Lytle, M.Ed., who received the Golden Apple Award presented by NBC 10, the Rhode Island Department of Education and Hasbro, in recognition of her outstanding teaching methods.

Not only has Marissa been a seventh and eighth grade math teacher at Aldrich Junior High School in Warwick, RI, for the past 10 years, she has also been teaching math at ɫƵվ Tech for approximately five years as an adjunct instructor and tutor in the Academic Skills Center.

Marissa was nominated for the Golden Apple Award by one of her eighth grade students. As Marissa explained, there are no specific criteria used in the nomination process. Parents and students can go to and submit a nomination basted on what they feel constitutes special recognition.

Marissa stated, “I certainly was very surprised to receive this honor.”

The Golden Apple Award honors those teachers who represent the true spirit of teaching by providing all students with the opportunity to learn in a creative and safe environment. Great job, Marissa!
